This weekend saw the return of Eat Street at Festival Place shopping centre in Basingstoke. As a local Blogger, I was asked to attend the event, but how could I not…there was the offer of free food for all!
The area near Pret, M&S and Costa was turned into a mini food festival, with a live steal band setting a fun and upbeat atmosphere.
For the foodie freebie lover like me, there were free samples throughout the event from Whittards, Costa, Starbucks and Yobu, which were very welcome.
I also enjoyed the cooking demos from Las Iguanas, Wagamama, Nando’s, Festival Street Kitchen and Pizza Express. Festival place has never smelt so good 😉
The main star of the weekend for me was Levi Roots, who captured the growing crowd with his cooking demonstrations of Martinique Coconut Chicken Curry and Homestyle Jerk Wings with Hot n Fruity Coleslaw.
I’ve admired Levi Roots ever since he made the big time with his Reggae Reggae Sauce, earning him investment on hit TV show Dragons’ Den, so I was pleased to see his friendly face on the stage.
Festival Place give us Basingstoke folk some great events throughout the year, and this one seemed very much geared towards giving us something back. With the free food, the celeb cooking demos, and the great atmosphere, it was an event not to be missed. I’m looking forward to next year’s Eat Street already. Check out the events at Festival Place coming soon.
